Position on Nutrition

All foods can fit into a healthy diet.  It’s all about balance.  My focus in feeding my family has three main nutritional goals:  increase fruits & vegetables, increase the amount of whole grains, and ensure three daily servings of dairy foods (or a calcium-rich substitute).  

 

Many chronic health problems including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and osteoporosis can be prevented with a diet resembling these goals.  These dietary principles track the 2015-2020 U.S. Dietary Guidelines and the recommendations of MyPlate from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
